Rudy has been adopted!

Rudy w/SS (ARK #2406)
Male
Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie
Red/Silver

RUDY is a small Yorkie with a big presence.  A neutered male, approximately four years old, he would love to find a calm home without much time spent alone.  Older children would be fine.

Very housebroken, he knows how to use a dog door as well as ask to go outside.

Rudy gets along with cats and dogs, but can playfully chase a kitty if it runs.  He may try to boss around other dogs, but is very responsive to a snap to remind him of his manners.

Rudy does not like to be shut into crates or small rooms.  He will display fearful behavior when he is put into these places.  He will bark once inside.  I would say he should not be kept in a crate or small room for any long period of time.

He is a wonderful bed dog... he sleeps through the night and is very respectful of his people bed mates.  Don't think he would want to share with another dog – but I haven't tried since my 110 lb. German shepherd stays away from high places.  He enjoys rooting under the covers and then popping just his head out to sleep.

He has shown an interest in chickens, but is easily called away from trying to bother them.  A typical terrier, Rudy would not play well with small animals such as guinea pigs.

This is a true lap dog.  He wants to be next to or on His Person whenever possible, but he will ask first before jumping in a lap.  But don't expect him to be lazy – he's ready to jump up and follow whenever you are.

Rudy does well in a car, although we are working on his tendency to become excited and bark when we get to our destination.  I was very quickly able to keep him on “his seat” in the car, so he did not become dangerous in my lap.

I have had him in Petsmart and Home Depot where he has been well mannered.  He enjoys riding in the cart and feeling like a king!  He can pull at his leash, so needs a reminder at the start of a walk that he needs to relax and pay attention to his handler.

Very smart, Rudy knows “sit” and “down” as well as the multipurpose “no.”  I am working on a standard “out” command just to let him know when he needs to leave me alone in an area, such as the horse corral or when I am in the bathroom.  😊
